How important is a healthy environment to the Serbian public?

As a part of European Green Week 2022 in Serbia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) presented the key findings from its survey on the public opinion in Serbia around the importance of a healthy environment and the impact of climate change.

The event participants learned whether Serbian citizens prioritize a healthy environment over economic growth, what they see as the most endangered aspects of the environment, how concerned they are about climate change, what they think are the solutions for environmental improvements in Serbia, and what habits they are willing to change to contribute to them.

The quantitative survey, conducted on a representative national sample, was carried out in partnership with the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy (CeSID).

The second survey was done as part of the EU Project for Household Waste separation ODVAJAMO, implemented by Pomilio Blumm and New Moment. Starting work on a campaign requires a communication strategy in place, and coming up with a good strategy requires finding out how people feel about an issue. That is why the Project was preceded by detailed research that analyzed past campaigns, surveyed 2,150 people across 17 municipalities, and involved more than 1,500 hours in focus groups, interviewing people from different parts of the country. Project representatives shared some valuable insights in a panel: How keen are we to separate waste? What moral values ​​do we associate with recycling? What do people expect from the public administration? Who is more motivated to separate waste — younger or older people?

The two survey presentation was followed by a discussion with young people about the findings.
